of Diamonds
Proper certification is of the utmost importance for the valuation of Natural and Lab Grown diamonds. The aim of certification is to provide optimal protection for both traders and consumers. As there are several certification agencies worldwide, we like to zoom in on the largest providers and the main criteria at the grading Labs that assess diamonds. All Lab grown diamonds from Sanjoya are delivered with a Sanjoya Certificate as from a size of 0.50 Carat. No extra cost will be charged for the Sanjoya Certificate.
Although the criteria vary from certificate to certificate and not all agencies are equally strict in their assessment, in general, carat (weight), color, clarity and cut quality are tested. Furthermore, the shape, exact dimensions and origin of the stone are named. This also establishes whether it is a Natural diamond or a Lab grown diamond.
Sanjoya Certificate
All Lab Grown diamonds from Sanjoya are deliverd with a Sanjoya Certificatie from a size of 0.50 Carat. No extra cost will be charged for the Sanjoya Certificate.
For an additional charge, it is also possible to provide the stones with another certification, such as GIA (Gemological Institute of America), AGS (American Gemological Society), HRD (High Diamond Council), AIG (Antwerp International Gemological Laboratories), IGI, EGL (European Gemological Laboratory).
Please note that the type of certification you are choosing might lengthen the delivery time of the diamond(s) that you ordered.
Because of the additional grading at cut, Sanjoya also uses the lesser-known but very high quality GCAL certification.
Should a Sanjoya certificate's certification deviate negatively from that of an external certificate, the client has the right to return the stone within one month of purchase. The purchase price will be credited if the stone is returned undamaged.
Certification Agencies
Each of the major certification agencies issues a unique number for a diamond they have graded. At GIA and other agencies, this unique number is also laser-engraved into the diamond's girdle. With a magnifying glass, this unique number can be easily read, which minimises the chances of fraud. Sanjoya lashes a number into Lab grown stones with a size from 0.50 Ct for free.

GIA
The establishment of GIA 'Gemological Institute of America' in 1931 also laid the foundation for the first internationally accepted diamond grading system with objective criteria. The still leading report today also laid the foundation for other agencies at the time.
HRD
Founded in Antwerp in 1976, this Lab offers three different certificates, HRD Diamond Certificate, HRD Diamond Identification Report and the HRD Colour Certificate. Diamonds are examined by different experts with sophisticated machines, which ensure a high degree of reliability. Although the quality of HRD certification approaches that of GIA, an HRD certificate is less popular. It is said that in terms of strictness compared to a GIA certificate, the High Diamond Council (read HRD) achieves a score of 95%HRD Antwerp.
IGI
The International Gemological Institute with offices in Antwerp, New York, Bangkok, Mumbai and Tokyo was founded in 1975 and is one of the leading agencies with 400,000 certifications per year.
EGL
The European Gemological Laboratory was also founded over 30 years ago in Belgium and has Laboratories in Antwerp, Johannesburg, London, Paris, Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Seoul, Mumbai and Cape Town. The agency is known for its innovative way of grading, certifying diamonds weighing less than 1 carat. EGL also issues several types of certificates.
GCAL
For certification of Sanjoya's Lab Grown, we like to fall back on GEM Certification & Assurance Lab. Unlike other certificates, it reports in detail on the unique properties of diamonds with Hearts & Arrows Cut.
