Maintenance
Through proper and timely maintenance, your jewelry will last longer and you will prevent unnecessary defects. Below you will find the rules of use for gold, silver and silver plated jewellery.
The correct care and use of gold, silver, and silver-plated jewelry
- Protect your jewellery from scratches and knocks;
- Do not let your jewel come into contact with hard surfaces and don’t put it on while standing on a hard floor;
- Take your jewelry off before taking part in sport, doing housework or other rough work and before showering or going to bed;
- Avoid contact with chemical substances such as perfume, cleaning products or swimming pool products;
- Protect your pearls from contact with cosmetics. Their shine and color can be damaged by contact with make-up, hairspray, and perfume;
- Do not clean your jewelry with chemical products and do not use a rough cloth;
- Use only warm water, with no chemical additives;
- Changes in the color of pearls and silver are possible with normal use;
- We are not liable for damage sustained during the wearing of the jewelry or through wrong or unusual use;
How should I clean my jewelry?
Gold, silver and silver-plated jewelry can be cleaned with a good jewelry cleaner, obtainable from a jeweler or goldsmith, or you can have your jewelry cleaned by a jeweler or goldsmith. You can occasionally clean your jewelry yourself by dipping it in a soapy solution (e.g., green soap). Silver and silver-plated jewelry can also be cleaned with silver dip. Brush the jewelry gently with a soft toothbrush. Rinse the jewelry with warm water and dry with a soft cloth.
Silver easily becomes tarnished through contact with sulfur compounds. Avoid sulfur-containing products and chlorine. Titanium jewelry remains beautiful if you occasionally immerse it in a soapy solution (for example, green soap). Carefully brush the jewelry clean with a soft toothbrush. Rinse the jewelry with warm water and dry it with a soft cloth.
Take care with the use of crèmes, perfumes, medications and other chemical products that may affect the pH of your skin and can cause discoloration of your Mi Moneda [B1] jewelry.
Jewelry containing diamonds or zircons becomes dull through contact with skin oils, soap, butter or oil. The stones lose their sparkle, while it is just this sparkle, this endless reflection of light that makes them so irresistible. A diamond should, therefore, be cleaned an average of once a month.
They can be cleaned as follows:
- In a small bowl, prepare a solution with a soft, liquid soap (washing up liquid). Brush the diamond gently with a soft toothbrush. Put it in a sieve and rinse in clean running water. Dry carefully with a soft, non-fluffy cloth.
- Another household method of cleaning diamonds is a solution of ammonia and water. Make a solution of equal quantities of ammonia and water. Place the diamond jewelry in the solution and leave to soak for half an hour.
- Remove the jewelry and gently tap it with a brush on the front and the back of the setting. Dip it into the solution once more and without rinsing, leave it to dry on a paper towel.
- Obviously, a diamond can also be cleaned with a reliable jewelry cleaner.
General tips
- Please take care of your jewelry and do not swim, shower, take part in sport etc. while wearing your jewelry.
- If you want to wear two or more pendants at the same time we advise you to wear a 3MM necklace. Please note, when wearing two or more necklaces, rose-gold plated jewelry may be damaged.
